How to Fix the Action Center Grayed Out Issue

In this post, you’ll find out what to do if the action center toggle switch is grayed out. Let’s get started.

Method #1

Launch local group policy editor.

Navigate to the User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.

Then double-click “Remove Notifications and Action Center” in the right pane.

Select Not Configured.

Hit the OK button.

Restart your PC.

That’s all.

Method #2

Launch Windows 10 Registry Editor. I suggest a Registry backup before continuing.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > Explorer.

On the right pane, you will see DisableNotificationCenter.

Double-click it and enter 0 in the Value data field. Hit the OK button.

Also go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > Explorer. If DisableNotificationCenter is in the right pane, just change its value to 0 as above.

Restart File Explorer.

That’s it.
