How to Add, Delete or Share Contact on WhatsApp

In this post, you’ll view the steps to add a contact on WhatsApp and invite someone to join WhatsApp.

You’ll also see the steps to share and delete WhatsApp contact. Let’s begin.

Add Contact to WhatsApp

Note: You can’t do this task on WhatsApp Web or Desktop.

You can add a contact to your iPhone or Android phone using the “Contacts” app, and if they’re on WhatsApp, you’ll find the person in the latter app.

You can also add a contact to your device using WhatsApp, and here, you’ll see how.

Once you do so, you’ll find that contact in the “Contacts” app, and if they’re on WhatsApp, you’ll also find the person in the latter app.

Let’s see the steps:

Open the WhatsApp app and make sure you’re in the “Chats” tab.

On Android, hit the green color icon at the bottom right. On iPhone, tap the icon at the top right.

Select the “New contact” option.

Provide the name and number.

Hit “Save” at the top right.

That’s it. On iPhone, close the screens and hit the icon at the top right of the “Chats” tab.

If the number is on WhatsApp, you can now see it on the list. Otherwise, you can see it in the Invite to WhatsApp section.

Add Contact to WhatsApp via QR Code

Note: You can’t do this task on WhatsApp Web or the Desktop app.

On Android, hit the three vertical dots at the top right and select “Settings” on WhatsApp. On iPhone, hit the “Settings” tab at the bottom.

You can see the “QR code” icon beside your name. Hit it.

You can now view the QR code for your contact and share it using the “Share” icon at the top. Or you can ask the person to scan the code to add you as a contact.

To add a contact using a QR code on your iPhone, tap the “Scan” button. Scan the QR code, tap the “Add to Contacts” button, tap “Save,” and that’s all. On Android, you need to navigate to the “Scan Code” tab to do this task. The rest of the steps are the same.

On iPhone, you can reset this QR code by hitting the “Reset QR Code” option. Tap “Reset” in the popup.

On Android, you can see the three vertical dots on the top right. Hit it, and you can view the “Reset QR code” for resetting this code, as the name shows. Hit it and hit “Reset” in the popup.

Invite Someone to WhatsApp

You can invite someone who is not a WhatsApp user to join WhatsApp.

You can’t do this task on WhatsApp Web and Desktop app. Let’s see how to do that on an Android phone and iPhone.

Android

Launch WhatsApp and hit the green icon in the “Chats” tab bottom right.

On the “Invite to WhatsApp” section, you’ll see your contacts not using WhatsApp.

Hit the “Invite” beside the contact you like to invite.

If the contact has more than one number, you’ll see a popup where you need to choose the number you prefer and hit “Continue.”

You’ll be on the compose box of your “Messages” app, where you can see the pre-filled message.

You can edit the message if you wish and hit the “Send” icon to send the message to the contact.

Notes:

When you hit the “Share invite link” on the “Invite to WhatsApp” section, you’ll see an invite message and two options (Copy and Nearby).

Beneath that, you can find a few apps that you can use to send messages. If you wish, you can use the one you want.

That’s it.

You can see the above message, options, and apps by doing these steps: Hit the green icon on the “Chats” tab. Tap the three vertical dots at the top right and select “Invite a friend” above “Contacts.”

Alternatively, you can follow these steps:

Hit the three vertical dots at the top right of the WhatsApp app. Select Settings > Invite a friend.

In the “Invite a friend” screen, you can view the “Share link,” which is for sharing the invite link with others.

In the “From Contacts” section, you can see your contacts not using WhatsApp.

Tap the one you prefer. You’ll see a popup if that contact has over one number, choose the number you like, and tap “Continue.”

You can see the invite message in the “Messages” app, which you edit and send.

iPhone

Open WhatsApp and hit the icon in the “Chats” tab’s top right. At the bottom, you can see the “Invite to WhatsApp” section.

You can view the contacts not using WhatsApp and the “Invite” option beside each one in that section.

Hit the option, and you’ll see a popup asking you to choose a number if that contact has over one number.

When you select the number, you can see the compose box of the “Messages” app with the pre-filled message.

Edit the message if you wish and send it.
