(2022) How to Make Only Admins can Send Messages on WhatsApp

By default, any participant can send messages to the WhatsApp group. Follow the steps below to allow only admins to send messages in the group.

Remember that you need to be a group admin to follow the steps in this guide.

Make Only Admins can Send Messages on WhatsApp Group (Android Phone)

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the WhatsApp Messenger app.
  2. ​​In the “Chats” tab, long-press the group chat.
  3. Tap three vertical dots at the top. Select “Group info” and then the “Group settings” option.
  4. Tap the “Send messages” option below “Edit group info.”
  5. In the “Send messages” popup, tap the “Only admins” option. Tap OK.

That’s it.

Note: You can revert by choosing “All participants.” Tap OK.

Make WhatsApp Group Only Admins can Send Messages (iPhone)

Open the WhatsApp app.

In the “Chats” tab, swipe the group chat to the left. Select “More.”

In the popup, tap the “Group Info” option.

Tap the “Group Settings,” and then the “Send Messages” option above “Edit Group Info.”

In the popup, tap the “Only Admins” option.

That’s it.

Note: To revert, choose the “All Participants” option.

Make Only Admins can Send Messages on Group on WhatsApp Web or Desktop

Here are the steps:

Open the WhatsApp Web or Desktop app.

Click on the group chat and hit the group name at the top of the conversation.

On the right sidebar, you can see many options.

Click on Group settings and hit Send messages. Choose “Only admins” and click the Confirm button.

That’s it.

Note: To revert, choose “All participants.” Click Confirm.
