How to Change or Remove Background Color on Google Docs

Please see the steps to complete this task. In this instance, I’m using Google Pixel 4a (Android 12), iPhone (iOS 15.2.1), and Windows 11 PC.

Note: You can’t change the page color for specific pages, and you can only change it for the whole document.

How to Change Background Color on Google Docs (PC)

Here are the steps:

Sign in to Google Docs and open the document you want.

Click “File” at the top left and select “Page setup” at the menu bottom.

Open the drop-down list under “Page color.”

Select the color you want to use. “Custom” is for the custom color.

Click the Set as default button to set all settings in the popup as default.

Click on the “OK” button in the popup.

That’s it. You can see the change now.

Note: To remove the background color on the Google Docs file, follow the above steps but select the “White” color.

How to Change Background Color on Google Docs App (Android or iPhone)

Here are the steps:

Launch the Google Docs app and open the document.

Hit three horizontal dots at the top-right if you’re using an iPhone.

If you’re using Android, tap the Pencil icon at the bottom and select the three vertical dots at the top right.

Select the “Page setup.”

Hit on “Page color” and choose the desired color.

Now select the desired shade, and that’s all.

Note: To remove the background color on the Google Docs document, follow the above steps but select the “White” color from the shades.
