How to Add Cast Icon to Edge Toolbar

Written by Thirumalraj

Let’s see three different ways to do this task. Pick the one you want.

I’m using a Windows 11 PC here.

How to Add Cast Icon to Microsoft Edge Toolbar using Option

Open Edge browser.

Hit the three horizontal dots at the top right.

Hover your mouse over More tools.

Hit the “Cast media to device” option.

Now right-click on the Cast icon in the toolbar.

You can see the “Always show icon” option. Please enable it.

That’s it.

Note: You can remove the Cast icon by right-clicking on the Cast icon and disabling the option mentioned above.

How to Add Cast Icon to Edge Toolbar using Local Group Policy Editor

Launch local group policy editor.

Navigate to the Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge > Cast.

Then double-click “Show the cast icon in the toolbar” in the right pane.

Select Enabled.

Hit the OK button.

That’s all.

Note: To remove it, follow the steps above but select Disabled. If you want the default, choose Not Configured.

How to Add Cast Icon to Edge Toolbar using Registry Editor

Open Registry Editor. I suggest a Registry backup before proceeding.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Edge.

If you don’t see the Edge key mentioned above, you need to create it, and here’s how: Right-click on the Microsoft key and select New > Key. Type Edge and then press the Enter key.

Right-click on the blank space in the right pane.

Select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Type ShowCastIconInToolbar and then hit the Enter key.

Double-click it and provide 1 in the Value data field.

Hit the OK button.

That’s it.

Note: To remove it, provide 0 in the Value data field of the DWORD. For the default, delete the DWORD you created earlier.

Thanks for reading.
