To change both the iPhone’s and Telegram’s text size, open the “Settings” app.

Tap “Display & Brightness.” Tap the “Text Size” option.

Use the slider at the bottom. Slide it to the left to decrease font size and to the right to increase font size.

Follow the below steps to change only the Telegram text size:

In the Telegram app, hit the “Settings” tab.

Tap Appearance > Text Size. Turn off the “Use System Text Size.”

Follow the below steps if you’re using the Desktop app:

In the Telegram Desktop app, click on the three horizontal lines in the left sidebar.

Select “Settings.” Scroll down until you see the “Default interface scale.”

Beneath it, you can see these options: 100%, 125%, 150%, 200%, 250%, and 300%.

Choose the one you prefer. Hit “Restart,” and that’s it.

Follow these steps if you are using the Web:

In the Telegram Web, click on the three horizontal lines in the left sidebar.

Select Settings > General Settings.

Android

Open a Telegram chat and type the text in the compose box.

Select the text now. Besides “Cut” and “Copy,” you can see two options – “Spoiler” and “Bold.”

The latter bolds the text, and the former shows the text when the recipient taps on the message.

Tap the three vertical dots, and you can see other font styles (Italic, Mono, Strikethrough, Underline, and Regular). The “Create link” is for creating a link.

Choose the one you prefer, and you can see the change. Tap the “Send” icon.

iPhone or Desktop

In the Telegram conversation, type and select the text.

On iPhone, tap “Format.” On the Desktop, right-click on the text and hover your mouse over “Formatting.”

You can view these options:

  • Italic
  • Monospace
  • Create link (Desktop) or Link (iPhone) – For creating the link.
  • Strikethrough
  • Underline
  • Spoiler
  • Plain text (This one is available on Desktop only and is the formatting of the text when you typically type in Telegram)

Tap the one you want, and hit the “Send” icon.

Alternatively, you can do the above on the Desktop using the keyboard shortcut. Here’s how: Select the text and press the following key combination per your wish.

For bold, press Ctrl + B. Italic – Ctrl + I. Underline – Ctrl + U. Strikethrough – Ctrl + Shift + X. Monospace – Ctrl + Shift + M. Spoiler – Ctrl + Shift + P. To create a link, press Ctrl + K. For plain text, Ctrl + Shift + N.

Web

In WhatsApp Web, hit the chat you prefer. Type and select the text.

You can see these icons (from left to right) – Spoiler, Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Monospace, and Link (which is for adding a link).

Click on the one you like and hit the “Send” icon.

Alternate Method

You can do the above task using the below steps too. This way will apply to Android, iPhone, Web, and Desktop.

To make text bold, surround the text with two asterisks (For instance: **hi**).

For italic, surround the text with two underscores. To make text strikethrough, provide two tildes on both sides of the text.

For monospace text, give three backticks on both sides of the text.

Remember that the special characters will not be in the message you sent.
