Change Language and Send Button to Enter Key in WhatsApp and Telegram
In this post, you’ll see the steps to change the WhatsApp and Telegram language and the “Enter” key to the “Send” key.
You’ll also view the steps to change the keyboard and its language on WhatsApp. Let’s begin.
Change Send Button to Enter Key in WhatsApp
The below steps apply only to Android.
Launch the WhatsApp app and hit three vertical dots at the top right.
Tap Settings > Chats.
In the “Chat settings” section, enable the “Enter is send” option above “Media visibility.”

That’s it. Disable the option mentioned above to return to default.
Here are some things to note:
- On WhatsApp for Android compose box, tapping the “Enter” key on the keyboard creates a new line by default.
- WhatsApp for iPhone, Desktop, and Web doesn’t have this feature.
- The “Enter” key will default send the message on WhatsApp Web and Desktop app. If you want a new line, press Shift + Enter.
Change Send Button to Enter Key on Telegram
Note that there is no option to do this task on an iPhone.
Android
The Telegram app sends the message when you press the “Send” button by default. And the “Enter” key is for the new line.
Following the steps below, you can press the “Enter” key to send the message.
Here are the steps:
Open the Telegram app and hit the three horizontal lines at the top left.
Select “Settings” and tap “Chat Settings.”
You can see the “Send with Enter” option at the bottom. Please turn it on, and that’s all.

Turn off the abovementioned option if you want to return to default settings.
Web or Desktop
On Telegram Desktop or Web, by default, the “Enter” key sends the message. And for the new line, you need to press Shift + Enter.
If you want to send the message by pressing the Ctrl + Enter and have the new line by pressing “Enter,” follow the below steps:
In the Telegram Web or Desktop, hit the three horizontal lines in the left sidebar top.
Select Settings > General Settings (on the Web) or Chat Settings (on Desktop).
You can see two options: “Send with (or by) Enter” and “Send with (or by) Ctrl + Enter.”
Choose the latter, and that’s all. Choose the “Send with (or by) Enter” option to return to default settings.

Change Language on WhatsApp
By default, the WhatsApp app is on the language of your device. Note that the below steps only change the interface language.
Android
The below steps change only the language of WhatsApp and here are the steps:
In WhatsApp, hit the three vertical dots at the top right corner and select “Settings.”
Tap “App language.”

Select the language you like from the popup. The available options are:
- English
- Hindi
- Marathi
- Gujarati
- Tamil
- Malayalam
- Telugu
- Kannada
- Bangla
- Punjabi
- Urdu
- Afrikaans
- Shqip
- Amharic
- Arabic
- Azerbaijani
- Bulgarian
- Catalan

- Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong)
- Traditional Chinese (Taiwan)
- Croatian
- Dansk
- Czech
- Nederlands
- Eesti
- Filipino
- Suomi
- French
- Deutsch
- Greek
- Hausa
- Hebrew
- Magyar
- Bahasa Indonesia
- Gaeilge
- Italiano
- Japanese

That’s all.
The above steps don’t apply to all since not everyone has the above option.
If you’re one of them, follow these steps. Note that the below steps will change the language of both WhatsApp and Android.
Open the “Settings” app and hit “System.”
Select Languages & input > Languages. Drag the two horizontal lines beside the language you want and drop it in the first place.

iPhone
On iPhone, change your device language, which will reflect in WhatsApp. Here’s how:
Launch the “Settings” app and select “General.”
Tap “Language & Region.” In the “Preferred Languages” section, drag a language you want and place it at the top.
Tap “Continue” to restart your device. Open the WhatsApp app to see the change.
Change Language and Translate Messages on Telegram
Telegram has a message translation feature. Remember that Google may have access to the messages on which you use this feature.
The below steps change only the interface’s language on Telegram, and you’ll see the change on your current device only.
Android or iPhone
Launch the Telegram app. On Android, hit the three horizontal lines at the top left.
Select Settings > Language.
You can see many languages in the “Language” section (on Android) or “Interface Language” section (on iPhone). Please choose the language you prefer, and that’s it.
To translate, follow the below steps:
In the “Translate Messages” section, you can see these two options:
- Show Translate Button: To enable or disable the translation feature. For the former, turn the switch on. For the latter, turn the switch off.

- Do Not Translate: You set which language you don’t want to translate using this option. Hit it and tap the ones you prefer.
Here’s how to use this feature:
Open the conversation. Tap (Android) or long-press (iPhone) the message you want to translate.
Hit the “Translate” option, and you’ll see the translated message.

On iPhone, “Copy Translation” is for copying the translated message. You can change the detected and translation language using the “Change Language” option.
Use the “Close Translation” button to close the popup on Android.

Web or Desktop
Note: You can’t translate on the Telegram Web.
In the Web or Desktop app, click on the three horizontal lines at the top of the left sidebar.
Click Settings > Language.
Choose the one you want. On the Desktop, in the popup, hit “OK,” and the Desktop app will restart, and you can see the Desktop now in your chosen language.
Follow these steps to translate:
Turn on the “Show Translate Button.” To translate a message, right-click on it and select “Translate.”

Change the Keyboard and Its Language on WhatsApp
Ensure you have more than one keyboard and language for the keyboard before proceeding with the below steps.
Note that you can’t change the keyboard for WhatsApp alone. But, if you change your device keyboard, it’ll also apply to WhatsApp.
Android
If you’re a “Gboard” user, follow the below steps:
Open a WhatsApp conversation and tap the compose box at the bottom.
Long-press the “Globe” icon or “Space bar” key, and you’ll see the languages and keyboards.
Pick the language or keyboard you prefer.
Here’s the alternate way to change keyboard language:
Tap the “Globe” icon on the keyboard, and you can see the current language of the keyboard in the “Space bar” key.
If it is not the language you like, tap the same icon again until you see the language you prefer.
Here’s how you can change the keyboard: Tap the “Keyboard” icon at the bottom right of the keyboard. Choose the one you like.
iPhone
Default Keyboard
Open a WhatsApp conversation and tap the compose box at the bottom.
Hit the “Globe” icon at the bottom left, and you can see the current language in the “Space bar” key. Tap the same icon until you see the language you like.
If you’ve over one keyboard, doing the above steps will change the keyboard.
Alternatively, you can long-press the icon mentioned above and pick the language or keyboard you want.
Gboard
To change the language, long-press the “Gear” icon, and you can view the languages. Tap the one you desire.
Alternatively, tap the “Gear” icon on the keyboard, and you’ll view the change. Hit the same icon if that’s not the language you wish.
Tap the “Globe” icon to change the keyboard. Alternatively, you can long-press the same icon and pick the keyboard you like.
