How to Turn Off Conversation Tones in WhatsApp

While you are on the WhatsApp Messenger app for iPhone, you’ll hear a sound by default if you send or receive a message.

If you are on the chat screen of WhatsApp for Android, you’ll hear a sound by default if you send or receive a message.

You can turn off those sounds if you don’t want them. Let’s see how.

But remember that you can’t do this for individual chats, and the below steps apply to the entire WhatsApp. I use an Android phone and iPhone.

Turn Off Conversation Tones in WhatsApp for Android

Here are the steps:

Open the WhatsApp app and hit the three vertical dots at the top right of the screen.

Select Settings beneath the Payments.

Tap the Notifications between Chats and Storage and data.

At the top, you can view Conversation tones. Please turn it off.

That’s it.

If you want sound for incoming and outgoing WhatsApp messages while on the chat screen, turn on the abovementioned option.

Turn Off Sounds on WhatsApp for iPhone

Here are the steps:

Launch WhatsApp and hit the Settings tab at the bottom.

Hit the Notifications between Chats and Payments.

Tap In-App Notifications.

Turn off Sounds above Vibrate, and that’s it.

You need to turn on the abovementioned option to return to the default.
