How to Activate Dark Mode on Microsoft Edge

Here are the steps you need to follow to enable dark mode on Edge. In this case, I’m using a PC, Android, and iPhone. Let’s begin.

PC

System-wide dark mode is applied to Edge by default. In other words, if you have dark mode enabled on a PC, Edge will be set to dark mode as well.

You can also activate the dark theme only for Edge by following these steps:

Open the Edge browser.

Hit the three horizontal dots at the top right.

Click on “Settings.”

Click “Appearance” on the left sidebar.

Under the Overall appearance section, you will see Dark, Light and System default.

Select “Dark.”

Notes:

  • Select “Light” to turn off dark mode.
  • The “System default” option applies the dark mode state of the PC to Edge.

iPhone

If you want to activate dark mode on the Edge app, you’ll have to enable dark mode on your iPhone.

Note: Disabling dark mode on the iPhone disables dark mode on Edge.

Alternatively, you can just enable dark mode for the Edge app as follows:

Open the Edge app.

Tap the button with the three horizontal dots below.

Click Settings.

Select “Dark” in the Theme section.

That’s it.

Notes:

  • Select “Light” to turn off dark mode.
  • The Microsoft Edge option disables dark mode when you are in normal mode and enables it when you are in InPrivate mode.
  • The Device option applies the iPhone’s dark mode state to Edge.

Android

If you want to enable dark mode in the Edge app, you only need to enable dark mode in Android.

Note: Disabling dark mode on Android will also disable dark mode on Edge.

Alternatively, you can just enable dark mode for the Edge app as follows:

Launch the Edge app.

Tap the button with the three horizontal dots below.

Click on “Settings.”

Hit Appearance > Theme.

You will see four options: Default (Microsoft Edge), Your device, Light and Dark.

Select “Dark.”

Notes:

  • To disable dark mode, select “Light.”
  • The Default (Microsoft Edge) option disables dark mode when you’re in normal mode and enables it when you’re in InPrivate mode.
  • Your device option applies Android’s dark mode state to Edge.
