How to Set Default Startup Tab in Task Manager

The Windows 10 Task Manager opens in the Processes tab by default.

To change the default startup tab of the Task Manager, follow these steps:

Open Task Manager.

Hit Options at the top.

Hover the mouse over the Set default tab.

Now you can see these options:

  • Processes
  • Performance
  • App history
  • Startup
  • Users
  • Details
  • Services

Choose the one you prefer.

That’s all. Open the Task Manager and you’ll notice the change.

Here’s an alternate method:

Launch Registry Editor.

I suggest you backup the Registry before continuing.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > TaskManager.

In the right pane, you can see StartUpTab.

Double-click it and then provide one of the following numbers in the Value data field:

0 – Processes tab

1 – Performance tab

2 – App history tab

3 – Startup tab

4 – Users tab

5 – Details tab

6 – Services tab

Hit the OK button.

That’s it. Open the Task Manager and you’ll notice the change.
