How to Delete a WhatsApp Contact

You can delete WhatsApp contacts from your Android phone or iPhone.

In this post, you’ll see the steps to do that.

But before seeing that, let’s view some essential things:

  • When you delete contacts using the “WhatsApp” app, they’ll get removed from your device.
  • Deleting the contacts using the “Contacts” app will also remove them from your WhatsApp.
  • Removing the contact will not delete the chat of it. Here’s our guide to help you do the latter.

I use Google Pixel 4a (Android 12), and iPhone X. Let’s start with the former.

Remove a WhatsApp Contact (Android)

Here are the steps:

Open the WhatsApp Messenger app and hit the chat of the contact you want to remove.

If you don’t find the chat, hit the green icon at the bottom of the Chats tab and tap the contact name.

Tap the name on the top and see three vertical dots on the top right. Hit it.

You can see “View in address book” between “Edit” and “View security code.” Select it.

Hit the three vertical dots at the top right and select Delete.

Hit Delete in the popup, and that’s all.
