How to Enable or Disable Cast Media to Device in Microsoft Edge

In this post, you’ll see two different ways to disable “Cast media to device” in the Edge. Choose the one you prefer.

I’m using Windows 11 PC here. Let’s start.

How to Disable Cast Media to Device in Microsoft Edge using Local Group Policy Editor

Launch local group policy editor.

Navigate to the Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge > Cast.

Then double-click “Enable Google Cast” in the right pane.

Select Disabled.

Hit the OK button.

That’s all.

Note: To enable it, follow the steps above but select Enabled or Not Configured.

How to Disable Cast Media to Device in Microsoft Edge using Registry Editor

Open Registry Editor. I suggest a Registry backup before proceeding.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Edge.

If you don’t see the Edge key mentioned above, you need to create it, and here’s how: Right-click on the Microsoft key and select New > Key. Type Edge and then press the Enter key.

Right-click on the blank space in the right pane.

Select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Type EnableMediaRouter and then hit the Enter key.

That’s it.

Note: To enable it, replace 0 with 1 in the Value data field of the DWORD and then hit the OK button or delete the DWORD you created earlier.

I hope this guide, “How to Enable or Disable Cast Media to Device in Microsoft Edge,” is helpful to you.
