How to Disable Deletion of Browsing and Download History on Edge

In this post, you’ll see two different ways to disable the deletion of browsing and download history on Edge. Let’s get started.

Method #1

Launch local group policy editor.

Navigate to the Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge.

Then double-click “Enable deleting browser and download history” in the right pane.

Select Disabled.

Hit the OK button.

That’s all.

Note: To enable the deletion, follow the steps above but select Enabled or Not Configured.

Method #2

Open Registry Editor. I suggest a Registry backup before proceeding.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Edge.

Right-click on the blank space in the right pane.

Select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Type AllowDeletingBrowserHistory and then hit the Enter key.

That’s it.

Note: To enable the deletion, provide 1 in the Value data field of the DWORD or delete the DWORD you created earlier.
