How to Enable or Disable a Device in the Device Manager

In the Windows 10 Device Manager, you can enable and disable the device. Here’s how.

Launch Device Manager.

Locate the device you wish to enable or disable.

Right-click on it.

The “Disable device” option will appear if the device is already enabled.

The “Enable device” option is available if the device is already disabled.

Hit the option.

A pop-up will ask you to confirm your disabling. Click Yes to proceed.

That’s all.

Here are alternative ways:

Method #1

Select the device.

Hit the first icon on the right side of the toolbar.

The device will be disabled if already enabled, and vice versa.

Method #2

Select the device.

Hit Action at the top.

The “Disable device” option will appear if the device is already enabled.

The “Enable device” option is available if the device is already disabled.

Hit the option.

A pop-up will ask you to confirm your disabling. Click Yes to proceed.

Method #3

Double-click the device.

Navigate to the Driver tab.

The “Disable Device” button is available if the device is already enabled.

The “Enable Device” button is available if the device is already disabled.

Hit the button.

A pop-up will ask you to confirm your disabling. Click Yes to proceed.

Hit the OK button.
