How to Enable Screen Saver Password Protection

In this post, you’ll learn how to enable screen saver password protection in Windows 10. Let’s begin.

Method #1

Launch local group policy editor.

Navigate to the User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization.

Then double-click the “Password protect the screen saver” in the right pane.

Select Enabled.

Hit the OK button.

That’s all.

Note: In order to disable it, follow the steps above but select Disabled.

Method #2

Launch Registry Editor. Before proceeding, I suggest taking a backup of the Registry.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > Control Panel > Desktop.

Remember that any above mentioned keys you don’t see need to be created.

Right-click on the blank space in the right pane.

Select New > String Value.

Type ScreenSaverIsSecure and then hit the Enter key.

Double-click it and provide 1 in the Value data field.

Hit the OK button.

That’s all.

Note: To disable screen saver password protection, follow the above steps but replace 1 with 0.
