How to Show or Hide the Full Path in the Title Bar of File Explorer

When you open a drive or folder in Windows 11, its full path will appear in the File Explorer title bar by default.

Follow these steps to display the name instead of the full path in the File Explorer title bar:

Open the File Explorer Options by pressing Windows + R. Type control folders and then press Enter.

Navigate to the View tab.

Unselect the “Display the full path in the title bar” option. You can find this one between “Display file size information in folder tips” and “Hidden files and folders.”

Click the “OK” button at the bottom.

From now on, you’ll always be able to find the name in the title bar of File Explorer.

Notes:

  • You cannot find these folders (Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, and Videos) path in the title bar when you try to open them from This PC or Quick access.
  • Select the option mentioned in the steps and click “OK” to return to the default setting.
