You can hide a specific and all desktop icons in Windows 10. Here’s how.

How to Hide Specific Desktop Icon

For icons on the desktop and in File Explorer, follow these steps:

Right-click the icon you want to hide.

Select “Properties” from the context menu.

Navigate to the “General” tab.

Select the “Hidden” option.

Tap the “OK” button at the bottom.

In the pop-up, click “Continue.”

That’s all.

Please note: This section does not work for the built-in desktop icons (Recycle Bin, Control Panel, Computer, User’s Files, and Network). See below for help.

To Unhide Individual Desktop Icon:

For icons on the desktop and in File Explorer, follow these steps:

Allow your PC to display hidden files.

Right-click on the icon you want to display on your desktop.

Click on “Properties.”

Unselect “Hidden.”

Click on the “OK” button at the bottom.

Click “Continue” in the pop-up.

That’s it.

How to Hide Desktop Icons All at Once

To hide all desktop icons at once, do the following:

Right-click on the empty area of the desktop.

Move the mouse over the option “View.”

Uncheck the “Show desktop icons.”

Notes:

  • Note that the icons that were hidden by following the instructions in the above section will not be visible until you allow the computer to show hidden files.
  • If you want to unhide desktop icons all at once, check the “Show desktop icons” option.
