How to Hide or Show the Home Button on Edge

In this post, you’ll see the three different methods to do this task. Let’s get started.

Method #1

Open Edge browser.

Hit the three horizontal points at the top.

Click on “Settings” in the menu.

Click on “Appearance” on the left sidebar.

There will be a button next to the “Show home button.” Disable (to hide) or enable (to show) it.

That’s it.

Once you have enabled it, you will see the “Home” button on the Edge toolbar.

If you click the “Home” button, you will be taken to your homepage, and Edge has set the “New tab page” as your  homepage by default.

If you want to set up a web page as your homepage, use the “Enter URL” option, which you will find under the “New tab page.”

Method #2

To display:

Launch local group policy editor.

Navigate to the Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge > Startup, home page and new tab page.

Then double-click the “Show home button on toolbar” in the right pane.

Select Enabled.

Hit the OK button.

That’s all.

Note: Follow the steps above but choose Disabled to hide the home button. For default, choose Not Configured.

Method #3

To hide:

Open Registry Editor. I suggest a Registry backup before proceeding.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Edge.

Right-click on the blank space in the right pane.

Select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Type ShowHomeButton and then hit the Enter key.

That’s it.

Note: To display, provide 1 in the Value data field of the DWORD. For default, delete the DWORD you created earlier.
