Written by Thirumalraj

In this post, you’ll see steps to turn off Twitter, Facebook, Messenger, Gmail, Google, Telegram, and Instagram in-app browsers.

I use an Android phone and iPhone here. Let’s start.

Table of Contents

Disable Facebook In-App Browser

Android

By default, Facebook for Android opens the link in the in-app browser.

If you want to open the link in your default browser instead of Facebook’s mobile browser, turn off Facebook’s in-app browser.

Here’s how to disable Facebook’s in-app browser:

  • Open the Facebook app.
  • Tap the Menu (three horizontal lines) at the top right.
  • Tap Settings & privacy > Settings.
  • Hit “Profile settings” in the Profile section.
  • In the Media and contacts section, tap Media and contacts.
  • You can see the “Links open externally” option between “Continuous contacts upload” and “Reduce motion for 3D photos.” Please enable it.

That’s it. From now on, the link will open in your default browser.

To enable Facebook’s in-app browser, follow the steps above but disable it instead of allowing it.

Note: There is no option to disable the Facebook in-app browser on your iPhone. To open the link in your default browser, follow these steps: Open the link. Tap the three horizontal dots at the bottom right and hit “Open in Browser.”

Turn Off Instagram In-app Browser
