How to Install or Change Theme in Notepad++

Installing and changing themes in Notepad++ is a simple task. Let’s see how to do this on Windows 10.

Steps to Install Theme

First, you need to download the Notepad++ theme.

Once you’ve done that, just copy that theme XML file.

Open the Run Command Box by pressing Windows + R.

Type %appdata% and then press the Enter key.

Open Notepad++ folder and then the themes folder.

Paste the XML file you’ve copied earlier here.

That’s all.

Open Notepad++ now.

Hit Settings at the top.

Click on the Style Configurator.

In the pop-up, open the first drop-down list and you will see the theme that you’ve added.

Note: If you want to delete a theme you’ve added, then just go to the above-mentioned folder and then find the XML file of the theme you’d like to remove. Delete it. That’s it.

Steps to Change Theme

Open Notepad++.

Hit Settings at the top.

Click on Style Configurator.

In the pop-up, open the drop-down list.

All the options you see are Notepad++ themes.

Pick the one and it’ll be applied to Notepad++.

If you don’t like it, then pick another.

Once you are done with the selection, click on the Save & Close button.
