How to Log Out of Facebook and Messenger

You’ll see the steps to sign out of Facebook and Messenger in this post.

Also, you’ll view how to log out of Facebook or Messenger from all devices at once and remotely. Let’s start.

Log Out of Facebook

PC

Click on your profile picture on Facebook at the top right and hit the “Log Out” option.

Android or iPhone

Open the Facebook app and hit “Menu.”

Scroll down to the bottom and hit the “Log out” button. If you’re using an iPhone, in the confirmation pop-up, hit “Log out.”

Log Out of Messenger

Android

You can sign out of Messenger by clearing its data and this applies to Android phones only.

Open the “Settings” app and hit “Apps.” Select “See all X apps.” X is a number.

Hit “Messenger” and you’re in the “App info” screen of Messenger.

Select “Storage & cache” and hit “Clear storage” to clear the data of Messenger. Hit the “Delete” option.

Messenger.com or Desktop

In Messenger.com, hit your profile picture at the top of the left sidebar and select “Log out.”

In the Messenger Desktop app, hit your profile picture at the bottom left. Select “Preferences” and click “Log Out.” Hit “Log Out.”

Sign Out of Facebook from All Devices at Once

Remember that the below steps will log you out of Messenger and Facebook from all devices except the Facebook you’re currently using. 

PC

Hit the profile picture at the top right of Facebook. Select Settings & privacy > Settings. Hit “Security and login” on the left sidebar.

Click “See more” in the “Where you’re logged in” section.

Find “Log out of all sessions” and hit it. In the pop-up, hit “Log out,” and that’s it.

Android or iPhone

Launch the Facebook app and hit “Menu.”

Hit Settings & privacy > Settings.

In the Security section, you will see Security and login. Hit it.

Hit See all besides “Where you’re logged in.”

Tap Log out of all sessions.

Select Log Out, and that’s all.

Remotely Log Out of Facebook or Messenger

PC

Hit the profile picture at the top right of Facebook.

Select Settings & privacy > Settings.

Hit “Security and login” on the left sidebar.

Click “See more” in the “Where you’re logged in” section.

Find the device from which you want to log out. In the case of the Facebook app, you are notified in the entry.

If you want to do this for Messenger, find the entry with “Messenger,” and the device from which you want to log out.

Hit the three vertical dots in that entry and “Log out.”

Android or iPhone

Open the Facebook app.

Hit Menu > Settings & privacy > Settings.

In the “Security” section, hit “Security and login.”

Tap “See all” besides “Where you’re logged in.”

Hit the three vertical dots in your preferred device entry. In the case of the Facebook app, you are notified in the entry. In the case of Messenger, you can see “Messenger.”

Select “Log Out.”

Log Out of Messenger Remotely (Android or iPhone)

Open the Facebook Messenger app and hit the profile picture at the top left.

Select Account settings > Security and login.

In the “Where You’re Logged In,” tap See more and find the Messenger entry with your preferred device.

Tap the three vertical dots in that entry and select “Log out.”

That’s all.

You can log out of Messenger and Facebook from all devices except the Messenger you currently use.

And for that, hit the “Log out of all sessions” button at the bottom and tap “Log out.”
