How to Mark as Unread in WhatsApp (iPhone and Android)

What is Mark as Unread in WhatsApp?

You can use the “mark as unread” option to return to chat later.

Remember that this feature has nothing to do with the read receipts, also known as “blue ticks.” When you use it, you’ll see a blank circle in that chat, which is a reminder.

What is Mark as Read in WhatsApp?

The “Mark as read” option marks all messages in chat as read, and the sender will see “blue ticks” on their side.

Use it to make a conversation read or make a message read without opening the WhatsApp app (applies for Android only).

In this post, you’ll see the steps to mark a WhatsApp conversation (contact or group) as read or unread.

WhatsApp’s unread filter lets you see only the chats with unread messages. Here, you’ll also see how to use this filter.

Swipe the chat you want to mark as read or unread to the right side completely.

The conversation will be marked as read if it has unread messages or was marked as unread. Otherwise, WhatsApp will mark the chat as unread.

That’s it.
