How to Show or Hide the Most Used Section in the Windows 11 Start Menu

The “Most used” section of the Windows 11 Start menu, hidden by default, shows the six most used programs.

Using this list, you can quickly launch the most-used apps. You can find this section by clicking on the Start menu and the All apps button.

Please see the steps below to remove one of the apps from the most used section. You’ll also see the steps to hide or show the entire section.

Let’s begin with the former.

Remove a Particular App in the Most Used Section

Here are the steps:

Open the Start menu and hit the All apps button at the top right.

Now, at the top, you can see the Most used section.

Right-click on the item you wish to remove.

Hover your mouse over “More” and select “Don’t show in this list.”

That’s all. Remember that in place of the app you’ve removed, you’ll find another most used app.

Show or Hide the Most Used Section in the Windows 11 Start menu

Here are the steps:

Press Windows + I to open the Settings app and hit Personalization on the left sidebar.

Click on Start on the right.

Turn off “Show most used apps.” You can find this one beneath the “Show recently added apps.”

That’s all.

Note: You can turn it on, and for that, you need to turn on “Show most used apps.”

Show or Hide the Most Used Section using Local Group Policy Editor

Here are the steps to show or hide the Most used section:

Type gpedit.msc in the Run and hit the Enter key.

If you want to hide the section for all users, go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.

If you want to hide the section for the current user, go to the User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.

I’m doing this for all users here, but the steps are the same for the current user.

Double-click on the “Show or hide “Most used” list from Start menu.”

Select Enabled, and you will see a drop-down list. Open it, and you will see these options:

  • Not Configured – This is similar to the Not Configured or Disabled, which you can see below.
  • Show – This will show the section, and users can’t hide the section.
  • Hide – This will hide the section, and users can’t show the section.

Choose the one you prefer and click OK.

Restart the computer.

That’s all.

Note: Users can show or hide the Most used section by selecting Not Configured or Disabled.
