How to Open the Settings App in Windows 10

In this post, you will learn eight different ways to access Windows 10’s Settings.

I will also show you how to make a shortcut to the Settings. Let’s start with the former.

Method #1

Open the Start menu.

Click on the Settings app in the search results after typing settings.

Method #2

To open the Settings app, press the Windows and I keys simultaneously.

Method #3

You can start the Settings by using the ms-settings: command in one of the following programs:

  • File Explorer address bar

You can also use the start ms-settings: command in one of the following programs to open Settings.

Method #4

Press Windows and X keys simultaneously.

Choose “Settings” from the Power User menu, which is located between “Task Manager” and “File Explorer.”

Method #5

Open File Explorer.

Click on “This PC” in the navigation pane.

Click “Open Settings” on the Computer tab of the ribbon.

Method #6

Open the Start menu.

On the left, you will find the “Gear” icon between the “Pictures” and “Power” icons. Click on it.

Method #7

Open the Start menu.

Click “Settings” in the “S” section of the app list.

Method #8

Open the action center.

Click the “All settings” button.

How to Create a Windows 10 Settings Shortcut

Create a Settings shortcut on your Windows 10 desktop or File Explorer by following the steps below.

Right-click on an empty area of the desktop or File Explorer.

Move the mouse over “New” in the context menu. Click on “Shortcut.”

Enter ms-settings: in the “Create Shortcut” pop-up. Click on the “Next” button.

Enter the shortcut name if you dislike the suggested one.

Click the “Finish” button.
