How to Open Settings in Windows 11

In this post, you’ll see different methods to access the Windows 11 Settings app.

Launch Settings using the Keyboard Shortcut

Open Windows 11 Settings using the Start Menu

Here are the steps:

Open the Start menu.

Type “settings” (without double quotes) and click on the Settings app in the search results.

You can also complete this task with these steps:

Open the Start menu.

Click “Settings” in the “Pinned” section, or you can click on All apps and then hit Settings in the S section.

Launch Settings using Command

You can start the Settings by using the ms-settings: command in one of the following programs:

  • Run
  • File Explorer address bar

Use the start ms-settings: command in one of the following programs to open the Settings.

Open Settings using the Power User Menu

Press Windows and X keys simultaneously.

Choose “Settings” from the Power user menu, between “Task Manager” and “File Explorer.”

Start Settings using the Icon

Click on the Network icon in the taskbar right and click on the Gear icon.

How to Create a Settings Shortcut

You can create a Settings shortcut on your Windows 11 desktop or File Explorer by following the steps below.

Right-click on an empty area of the desktop or File Explorer.

Move the mouse over “New” in the context menu and click on “Shortcut.”

Enter ms-settings: in the “Create Shortcut” popup and click on the “Next” button.

Enter the shortcut name if you dislike the suggested one and click the “Finish” button.
