How to Pin Shortcut to Taskbar

If you want to pin a website to the Windows 10 taskbar, read this guide.

If the shortcut is in the Start menu, right-click on it and select “More.” Click on “Pin to taskbar.”

If the program or its shortcut is in File Explorer, right-click on it and select the Pin to taskbar option from the context menu.

Alternative Method – Select the shortcut. Click “Application Tools” on the ribbon. Click “Pin to taskbar.”

If the program or its shortcut is on your desktop – drag and drop it into the taskbar.

Alternative Method – Right-click on it and click “Pin to taskbar.”

The icon of the program will appear in the taskbar when it is running. To pin, right-click on it and select “Pin to taskbar.”

Pin to taskbar is available for some file formats, such as EXE, but not for all, such as PNG. Here, you can try the following steps:

Drag and drop the file onto the blank area of the taskbar.

The shortcut for the program that opens this file will be added there if it does not already exist.

If you look at the shortcut’s “Pinned” section, you’ll see the file pinned there.

“Pin to taskbar” is not available for the folder.

In this case, you can try dragging and dropping the folder into a blank area on the taskbar.

The pinned folder is visible in the “Pinned” section of the “File Explorer” shortcut in the taskbar.

Or you can find the shortcut “File Explorer” in your taskbar if it doesn’t yet exist. You can also find the folder in the “Pinned” section of the shortcut.

If you want to pin a folder or file directly to the taskbar, follow these steps:

Right-click on the file or folder you want to pin. Click on “Create shortcut.” The shortcut will appear.

Right-click on the shortcut and select “Properties.” In the “Target” field, type explorer at the beginning. Press the “Space bar” key. Click “OK.”

Right-click the shortcut and select “Pin to taskbar.” That’s it.

If you wish to remove the shortcut, you can. However, even after that, the shortcut in the taskbar works fine.

You can unpin the shortcut from the taskbar by right-clicking the one you want to remove. Simply click “Unpin from taskbar.”
