I use Windows 11 PC here. Let’s begin with the former.

Delete Recent Documents in Windows 11 WordPad

If you click on the File menu at the top left of WordPad, you’ll find “Recent documents,” which is a list of documents you worked on recently.

WordPad will open when you click on the filename on the list. Let’s look at the steps to remove one or all entries from this list.

Open the Registry Editor. I suggest you make a backup of the Registry before proceeding.

Extend HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Applets > Wordpad.

Follow these steps to remove an individual entry:

You’ll see the entries in the right pane when clicking on the “Recent File List” key.

Locate the filename you don’t want in the Recent documents list in the Data column.

Right-click on this entry and select “Delete.” Click “Yes” in the confirmation popup.

That’s it. Note that you can use the above steps to remove multiple entries and select them after locating them.

Follow these steps to remove all entries at once:

Right-click on the “Recent File List” key. Choose “Delete” and then “Yes.”

That’s all. Open WordPad, and click on the File menu to see the changes.
