By default, “Recent files” and “Folders” are displayed in Windows 11 Quick access.
The “Recent files” section shows the recently opened files, and the “Folders” section shows the frequently used folders.
If you want to remove both or any of those sections from Quick access, here are the steps:
Open File Explorer Options. You can open it by following these steps: Open Run by pressing Windows + R. Type control folders and press the Enter key.
In the General tab “Privacy” section, you’ll see these two options:
- Show recently used files in Quick access – uncheck this option if you want to remove “Recent files” section from Quick access.
- Show frequently used folders in Quick access – uncheck this option if you want to remove “Folders” section from Quick access.
Uncheck both or anyone to your liking, and click the “OK” button at the bottom.
Note: Remember that the pinned folders will be displayed in Quick access even if you have deactivated the option “Show frequently used folders in Quick access.”
The alternate method to remove the Recent files section is in this post.
