How to Select Multiple or All Messages in WhatsApp
In this post, you’ll see the steps to select a message and chat on WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger.
You’ll see the steps to select single or multiple WhatsApp messages and chats.
Note that:
- The below steps apply to group and contact conversations and messages of yours and others.
- You can’t select multiple messages on the Desktop app and iPhone.
- You can’t select multiple or all chats at once on the Web or Desktop app and all conversations at once on WhatsApp for iPhone.
- WhatsApp doesn’t have the option to select all messages at once on the Web, Desktop app, iPhone, and Android.

Select Single or Multiple Messages
Open the WhatsApp app on Android or iPhone and hit the chat you prefer. To select a single message, long-press it.
You can select multiple messages only on Android, and here’s how: Long-press a message you like and tap the remaining ones.
You can select a message on the Web or Desktop app by right-clicking it.
To select single or many messages on the Web, open it and hit the conversation. Hit the three vertical dots at the top right. Click “Select messages” and select the messages you want.
Select Single or Multiple Chats
Open WhatsApp, and in the “Chats” tab, you can see all your unarchived chats.
You can select a conversation by pressing it.

On Android, to select multiple conversations, long-press a chat and hit the remaining ones. On iPhone, hit “Edit” at the top left and the chats.

To select all the conversations (for Android only), long-press a chat, hit the three vertical dots at the top right, and tap “Select all.”

That’s it. Note that you can see a checkmark in the chosen conversations.
Right-click on a conversation on the Web or Desktop to select it.

Telegram
You’ll see here the steps to select single or multiple messages and chats on Telegram.
To select a conversation, launch the Telegram app and long-press it.

To select multiple conversations on Android, long-press a chat and hit the remaining ones. On your iPhone, tap “Edit” at the top left and the conversations you like.

Right-click on a conversation in the Telegram Web or Desktop to select it.
Note: The Telegram app doesn’t have the option to select all chats at once, and you can’t select multiple or all conversations at once on the Web or Desktop app.
To select messages on Telegram, follow these steps:
In the Telegram app, hit the chat you prefer. To select a single message, which can be yours or others, tap it.
If you want to select multiple messages on Android, long-press a message you like and tap the remaining ones.

To select many messages on your iPhone, long-press a message, tap the “Select” option and hit the remaining ones.
Right-click on a message in the Telegram Web or Desktop to select it.
Here are the steps to select multiple messages on the Web or Desktop:
In the Telegram Web or Desktop, hit the conversation you like.
Right-click on a message and hit “Select.” Now that message is selected, click the other ones you want to select.
That’s all.
To clear the selection on the Web, hit the three vertical dots at the top right and click “Clear Selection.” On the Desktop app, hit “Cancel” at the top.
Alternatively, you can follow these steps on the Web:
Hit the conversation you like and the three vertical dots at the top right. Click “Select Messages” and select the messages.
That’s all. Hit the three vertical dots at the top right to clear the selection and click on “Clear Selection.”
Note: There is no option to select all messages simultaneously on Android, Web, Desktop, and iPhone.
Messenger
Let’s look at the steps to select a message and chat on Facebook Messenger.
To select a single chat, follow these steps:
Open the Facebook Messenger app, and you’re in the “Chats” tab, where you see your unarchived conversations. To select a single chat, press it, and that’s all.
Right-click on a conversation in the Messenger Desktop to select it.
To select a single message, follow these steps:
In the Messenger app, hit the chat you prefer. If you want to select a single message, long-press it.
You can select a message on the Desktop app by right-clicking it.
Note: You can’t select multiple or all conversations or messages at once on the Desktop app, Android phone, and iPhone.
