How to Enable or Disable the Show Desktop Button in Windows 11

What is the Show desktop button?

If you hit the Show desktop button in the Windows 11 taskbar’s right corner, it’ll minimize all open windows, and you can see the desktop.

Those windows will open if you hit the same button again.

Let’s see two different methods to enable or disable the Show desktop button. I use Windows 11 PC here. Let’s begin.

Enable or Disable Windows 11 Show Desktop Button using Settings

Here are the steps:

Open the Settings app by pressing Windows + I.

Hit Personalization on the left sidebar and select Taskbar on the right.

Click on Taskbar Behaviors.

Turn on (to enable it) or off (to disable it) the “Select the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop.”

That’s all.

Turn On or Off Show Desktop Button on Windows 11 using Registry Editor

Here are the steps:

Launch Registry Editor. I suggest you take the Registry backup before proceeding.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > Advanced.

On the right pane, you can see the TaskbarSd. Double-click it.

Provide 0 (to disable) or 1 (to enable) in the Value data field and hit the OK button.

That’s it.
