How to Tag Someone or Everyone on Facebook Messenger

Written by Thirumalraj

This post shows you how to tag someone or everyone on Facebook Messenger.

I use the app (Android phone and iPhone), Messenger.com, Facebook, and Messenger app. Let’s begin.

Tag Someone or Everyone on Messenger (Android and iPhone)

Open the Facebook Messenger app and make sure you’re in the Chats tab.

Tap the group chat you prefer. Note that tagging is available for group conversation and not for profile conversation.

Hit the compose box at the bottom.

Type @ symbol, and you’ll see the list of all group member names.

Tap the person’s name you want to tag. To mention multiple members, you must do the above step repeatedly.

To mention everyone in the group chat, tap “everyone.”

Type your message now and hit the Send icon.

That’s all.

The people you’ve mentioned in the message will receive a notification.

If they tap their name in this message, they’ll see these options on the Android device: “Send message” and “View profile.”

The former is for sending the message, and the latter is for viewing some details in the profile and the button to view the Facebook profile.

On iPhone, they’ll see View Facebook Profile which is for viewing the profile.

Tag Everyone or Someone on Messenger.com, Messenger App, or Facebook

Open the Messenger app on your PC. Or sign in to Messenger.com or Facebook.

If you’re using Facebook, hit Messenger on the left sidebar.

Click on the group conversation you want. Remember that tagging is for group chat only.

In the compose box at the bottom, type @ symbol, and you’ll see the list of group members.

Click the one you want. To tag multiple members, you need to do the above step repeatedly.

Here’s an important thing to note: You can’t find here everyone option you see on the Android and iPhone. This option is for tagging all members.

Type your message and hit the Send icon.

That’s all.

The people you’ve mentioned in the message will receive a notification.

If they hit their name in this message, they’ll see this option: “View profile.” This one is for viewing their profile.

The above is the case for the Messenger app. On Messenger.com or Facebook, hitting it will take them to their profile.

That’s it.

Thanks for reading.
