How to Change Turn Off Display and Sleep Duration

You can do this in Windows 10 as follows:

Open Settings by pressing Windows + I.

Hit System > Power & sleep.

Change Turn Off Display Duration

The “Screen” section contains two drop-down lists. The first one is for “battery,” and the second one is for “plugged in.”

Choose the duration from both drop-down lists. 

If you have selected “Never,” then you have disabled the automatic display turn off.

Change Sleep Duration

The “Sleep” section has two drop-down lists. The first is for “battery,” and the second is for “plugged in.”

Open the drop-down lists. 

Select the duration you prefer. 

If you select “Never,” then your PC will never automatically go to sleep.

Alternate Way

Follow the steps below to accomplish the same task. Let’s see what they are.

Open Run. Type powercfg.cpl. Press Enter. 

Hit “Change when the computer sleeps” or “Choose when to turn off the display.”

Change Turn Off Display Duration

You’ll see “Turn off the display” and two drop-down menus beside it. The first one is for “battery,” while the second one is for “plugged in.”

Open both and select the duration you prefer.

If you’ve chosen “Never,” then you’ve disabled the automatic turn off of the display.

Click on the “Save changes” button.

Change Sleep Duration

You will now see “Put the computer to sleep” and two drop-down lists beside it. One is for “battery” and the other is for “plugged in.”

Pick the duration you prefer from the drop-down lists. 

Selecting “Never” will disable the Windows 10 PC from going to sleep automatically.

Click on the “Save changes” button.
