How to Turn Off Facebook Messenger Notifications (and More)

How to Turn Off Facebook Messenger Notifications (Android)

You can turn off Facebook Messenger notifications permanently and temporarily. Let’s see both.

Temporarily

Open the Facebook Messenger app.

Hit your profile picture at the top.

Tap the “Notifications & Sounds.”

Hit the “On” at the top.

In the “Mute Notifications” popup, choose the duration you prefer. Hit “OK.”

That’s all. The notifications are disabled until the duration you’ve chosen.

If you want to turn on notifications, enable the switch in the “Notifications & Sounds.”

Permanently

In the Messenger app, hit your profile picture at the top.

Tap Notifications & Sounds > Manage notifications.

Disable the switch beside “Show notifications.”

That’s all. Notifications are disabled permanently for Messenger.

To enable notifications, go to “Notifications & Sounds.” Hit “Off” and allow the switch beside “Show notifications.”

How to Change Facebook Messenger Notification Sound and Ringtone (Android)

Open the Facebook Messenger app.

Hit your profile picture at the top.

Tap “Notifications & Sounds.”

To Change Notification Sound: Tap “Notification sound.” Choose the one you prefer.

To Change Ringtone: Tap “Ringtone.” Choose the one you prefer.

Additional Hints

Save on Capture and Emoji

You can choose the emoji skin tone on Facebook Messenger, and here’s how:

On Facebook Messenger, hit your profile picture.

Tap “Photos & Media.”

Tap “Emoji.”

Choose the one you want.

If you take the photos using Messenger, they’ll not be saved to the gallery by default.

If you want to save the photos to the gallery, then follow the steps below:

On Facebook Messenger, hit your profile picture.

Tap “Photos & Media.”

Enable the switch beside “Save on Capture.”

iPhone

If you want Facebook Messenger to save pictures and videos automatically which is taken or edited using Messenger to your iPhone after you send them, then follow the steps below:

Launch Facebook Messenger.

Hit the profile picture > Photos & Media.

Enable “Save Photos and Videos.” In the popup, tap “OK.”
