How to Enable Two-Step Verification in Telegram

In this post, you’ll see the steps to enable two-step verification in Telegram.

I use the app (Android phone and iPhone) and the Web. Let’s begin.

Enable Two-Step Verification in Telegram (Android)

Here are the steps to turn on two-step verification:

Open the Telegram app and hit the three horizontal lines at the top left.

Select Settings between Saved Messages and Invite Friends.

Hit Privacy and Security between Notifications and Sounds and Data and Storage.

Hit Two-Step Verification. You can find it between Passcode Lock and Devices in the Security section.

Tap the Set Password button.

Provide the password per your preference, and tap the Arrow icon at the bottom.

Re-enter it and tap the Arrow icon.

You can create a hint for your password or skip it. I’m doing the latter.

You can provide a recovery email or skip it. I’m doing the former here.

Now, I need to get the code from Telegram from the email they sent me and enter it here.

Hit the “Return to Settings” button and view these options:

Change Password, Turn Password Off, and Change Recovery Email.

Use any of the above if you need to.

That’s it.

Disable Two-Step Verification in Telegram for Android

Open the Telegram app and hit the three horizontal lines at the top left.

Select Settings between Saved Messages and Invite Friends.

Hit Privacy and Security between Notifications and Sounds and Data and Storage.

Hit Two-Step Verification.

Provide the password and hit the Arrow icon.

Tap Turn Password Off and tap Disable in the pop-up.

That’s all.

Enable Telegram Two-Step Verification (iPhone)

Open the Telegram app and tap the Settings tab at the bottom.

Hit Privacy and Security.

Tap Two-Step Verification, which is beneath the Passcode & Face ID.

Tap the Set Additional Password button.

Now provide the password and re-enter it. Tap the Create Password button.

You can create a hint for the password if you wish. I’m skipping it here by tapping the Skip setting hint.

You can provide the recovery email address. If you wish, you can skip this one.

I’m providing the email address here, and tap the Continue button.

Provide the code which you’ve received in the email from Telegram.

Tap the “Return to Settings” button, and that’s it.

Turn Off Telegram Two-Step Verification (iPhone)

Open the Telegram app and tap the Settings tab at the bottom.

Hit Privacy and Security.

Tap Two-Step Verification.

Provide the password and tap “Next” at the top right.

You will see these three options: Change Password, Turn Password Off, and Change Recovery Email.

Tap Turn Password Off.

In the pop-up, tap Disable, and that’s it.

Telegram Web

You can turn on or off two-step verification on the Telegram Web. Let’s see how.

To turn on two-step verification, follow these steps:

Open the Telegram Web.

Hit the three horizontal lines at the top left.

Select Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification.

Hit the Set Password button.

Provide the password and hit the Continue button.

Re-enter it and click on the Continue button.

You can provide a hint for the password now or skip this. I’m doing the latter.

You can provide your recovery email address or skip it. I’m doing the former here.

Provide the code that is in the email you’ve received from Telegram.

That’s all.

You can turn it off by following these steps:

Follow the steps above until you hit the Two-Step Verification.

Provide your password and click on the Continue button.

Hit Turn Password Off and click Disable in the pop-up.

That’s it.

Telegram Desktop

To turn on two-step verification, follow these steps:

Open the Telegram Desktop app.

Hit the three horizontal lines at the top left.

Select Settings and hit Privacy and Security.

Beneath the Local passcode, you can find the Two-Step Verification. Hit it.

Click on the Create Password button.

Please enter the password and re-enter it. Hit the Continue button.

Provide a hint for the password, or skip it. I’m doing the latter here.

Please enter your recovery email address or skip it. I’m doing the former here.

Provide your email address and hit the Save and Finish button.

You need to enter the code you received in the email from Telegram.

That’s all.

If you’d like to disable it, follow these steps:

Open the Telegram Desktop app. Hit the three horizontal lines at the top left.

Select Settings and hit Privacy and Security.

You can find the Two-Step Verification. Hit it.

Provide the password and hit the Submit button.

You can now view these three options: Change Password, Change Recovery Email, and Disable cloud password.

Hit the latter. In the pop-up, hit Disable.

That’s all.
