Fix WhatsApp Camera Not Working or is Stuck While Loading

Solution 1 – Restart Your Device

Restarting your device can fix this issue. Here’s how you can reboot an Android phone:

Long press the Power button on your Android device.

You can see these options: Emergency, Lockdown, Power off, and Restart.

Hit the latter, and that’s it.

Solution 2 – Check the Camera App

Open the Camera app and make sure it is working fine. If it doesn’t have any issue, try the next solution.

Solution 3 – Camera Permission

Make sure that WhatsApp has permission to access the camera.

Here’s how you can do that on an Android device:

Open the Settings app on your Android device and hit Apps.

Select “See all X apps.” X is a number.

Find WhatsApp and hit it. You’re in the App info screen of WhatsApp now.

Tap Permissions between Notifications and Storage & cache.

See if the Camera is in the Allowed section or Not allowed section. If it is in the former, that’s all.

If it is in the latter, do the following steps:

Hit Camera, and you can see these options in the “Camera Access For This App” section:

1. Allow only while using the app: WhatsApp will only access the camera when you’re using it.

2. Ask every time: If you choose this option, WhatsApp will ask about camera access each time you try to use a feature that requires the camera.

You’ll see a popup with these three options:

  • While using the app – you’ve seen this above.
  • Only this time – allow WhatsApp to access the camera this time only.
  • Don’t allow – which you’ll see below.

You need to choose the one you prefer from the above three options.

3. Don’t allow: disabling camera access to WhatsApp.

Choose the first one, and that’s all.

See if the WhatsApp camera is not working or is stuck while loading issue is fixed or not.

Solution 4 – Update WhatsApp

Open the Play Store on your Android phone. See if an update is available for WhatsApp.

If any, update WhatsApp and check whether the WhatsApp camera is not working or is stuck while loading problem is solved.

Solution 5 – Clear WhatsApp Data

This solution is for Android devices only. Ensure to take a backup before proceeding.

Clearing the data of WhatsApp can solve this issue.

Here’s how you can do that:

Open the Settings app on your Android device and hit Apps.

Select “See all X apps.” X is a number.

Find WhatsApp and hit it. You’re in the App info screen of WhatsApp now.

Select “Storage & cache.” You can now see this button:

Clear storage: Hit this one to clear the data of WhatsApp. In the confirmation popup, you can see this message:

Delete app data?

This app’s data, including files and settings, will be permanently deleted from this device.

If you’re okay with that, hit the “Delete” option, and that’s all. Restart your Android device.

Solution 6 – Reinstall WhatsApp

Uninstalling and Reinstalling WhatsApp is the final solution. Ensure to take a backup before proceeding with the steps.

Here’s how you can uninstall WhatsApp on an Android phone:

Open the Settings app on your Android device and hit Apps.

Select “See all X apps.” X is a number.
