Written by Thirumalraj

If the WhatsApp Desktop app crashes on your PC, this guide is for you.

Try the below solutions until the issue is fixed. I use Windows 11 PC. Let’s begin.

Fix WhatsApp Desktop App Crashing Issue

Solution 1

Make sure the WhatsApp Desktop app is up to date.

Here’s how:

Open the Microsoft Store by hitting its icon in the taskbar.

In the search box at the top, provide “WhatsApp” (without double quotes) and press the Enter key.

Hit the WhatsApp Desktop app from the search results.

If you see the Update button, hit it. If you don’t see that button, your app is up to date.

That’s it.

Solution 2

Restart your PC, and here’s how:

Click the Start button on the taskbar. Hit the Power icon and click Restart.

That’s all.

Solution 3

Check whether your OS is up to date. If it is not up to date, update it to the latest version.

Solution 4

Reset the WhatsApp Desktop app on your PC, and here’s how:

Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.

Hit Apps on the left sidebar and select Installed apps on the right.

Now find WhatsApp and hit the three horizontal dots beside it.

Select Advanced options and find the Reset section.

In there, you can see the Reset button. Click on it.

Now you can see this message:

This will permanently delete the app’s data on this device, including your preferences and sign-in details.

Hit the “Reset” button, and that’s all.

Solution 5

Uninstall the WhatsApp Desktop app and reinstall it.

Here’s how you can do the former:

Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.

Hit Apps on the left sidebar and select Installed apps on the right.

Now find WhatsApp and hit the three horizontal dots beside it.

Select Uninstall and hit the Uninstall button.

That’s it.

Solution 6

Try the WhatsApp Web instead of the WhatsApp Desktop app.

That’s all.
