If you try downloading the file (PDF, audio, video, image, or anything else) on WhatsApp Web and can’t see the “Download” icon or hitting the icon does nothing, this guide is for you.
Try the below solutions until the issue is fixed.
I use Windows 11 PC, Google Pixel 4a (Android 12), and iPhone X. Let’s begin.

Check your internet connection.
Restart your browser. Here’s how you can do that on the Chrome browser:
Hit the three vertical dots at the top right of the Chrome. Click Exit.
Open the Chrome browser, and that’s it.
If you’re an Edge browser user, check this guide.
If that doesn’t work, restart your PC. Here is how you can do that on Windows 11:
Click the Start button on the taskbar. Hit the Power icon and click Restart.
If you have an ad blocker on your browser, turn it off.
Here’s how you can disable the extension on Chrome:
In the Chrome address bar, type chrome://extensions and press the Enter key.
Find the extension and turn off the switch on it.
If you’re an Edge browser user, check out this post.
Now try to download the files on WhatsApp Web.
Check the date and time on your PC. If that’s not correct, fix it.
Clear the cache and cookies on your browser.
Log out of the WhatsApp Web and sign in again.
